One of the first questions that couples have when they first get married is, “Where are we going to spend our honeymoon?” And whatever the answer is, should be the crucial decision of their lives; for marriage is a sacred commitment, and so one (that is to say, two) should do everything they can to make sure that the first month after the wedding is a memorable one. This article will deal with honeymoons in two beautiful islands: Bali and Fiji.

1) Bali honeymoons
Tiny Bali may not be the most economically important island of Indonesia— that place must go to Java— but it is a very popular tourist attraction, especially in recent years; and in many ways it forms a distinct society within the country. Its people speak the Balinese language, which was formerly written in its own alphabet; and many of its people practice Hinduism (albeit in distinct form), rather than Islam. There are a number of honeymoon villas specially designed to fit in with the exotic tropical setting. Some of them are small, charming places that offer honeymoon flower baths and fresh tropical fruits. Others have a more “ritzy” appearance, like the Annora villas in Seminyak, which is a major shopping and night life area. Free shuttling services may also be provided, and gifts may be offered on check- out. Many have walled gardens filled with tropical plants, and some also have spas, gyms, and libraries.

2) Fiji honeymoons
Fiji is unusual among Pacific countries in that many of its people are of Indian, rather than native, descent. It too is popular among honeymooners. The resort on Turtle Island is worth mentioning. Here honeymooners can spend the nights in a secluded cottage from which the Pacific Ocean may be viewed in all its glory. Both Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson traveled here for their honeymoons.

In both Bali and Fiji— and in other parts of the world— there are places that offer honeymoon packages. In the case of Bali, there is the “Romancing the Isle” package; you can book for two or three nights. And so…

To the moon, Alice!
